1. Purpose and publisher
These terms of use and sale (the “Terms”) govern access to the Veritas-Doc service (the “Service”), its use and the purchase of its paid plans. You accept the Terms by creating an account, using the Service or placing an order. They are written in French; the English version is a courtesy translation.
2. Description of the Service
The Service analyses a PDF file you submit and produces a report of technical signs of modification: detected editing tool, number of successive saves, covered areas, text recovered under some masks, weighted score and a list of signs with their weights.
What the report is not
- It is neither an expert opinion nor proof of fraud, and it labels no document as fraudulent.
- A sign points to a technical trace. A legitimate document that was saved again can produce signs; conversely, the absence of signs is not a guarantee of authenticity.
- The absence of any sign does not attest that the document’s content is truthful.
- Interpreting the report and the decision that follows are up to you. Do not base an adverse decision about a person on the report alone.
Technical limits
- Only the PDF format is accepted. The number of pages analysed may be lower than the total page count, notably for a very long document whose analysis is time-limited; the report then states the total page count and the number of pages analysed, and the score covers only the pages read.
- A password-protected, unreadable or page-less PDF cannot be analysed; the analysis is then not counted.
- A file that exceeds the size accepted by the service is refused with a clear message, and the analysis is not counted.
3. Account and access
Analysing a document requires an account. Authentication is provided by our provider Clerk. You warrant that the information you provide is accurate, you keep your credentials confidential and you are responsible for the activity on your account. An account is personal.
4. Plans, prices and how analyses are counted
The plans are presented on the Pricing page, which prevails for the prices, volumes and taxes in force when you order. As of this version:
- Starter: free analyses for life, no bank card, 1 per account.
- Report: €4.90 incl. VAT, per report purchased (one analysis per report).
- Firm: €69 excl. VAT per month, up to 400 documents per month.
- Enterprise: on quote, with a contractual framework defined together.
The report is identical on every plan: only the volume changes. Prices are in euros. The report is shown including taxes (VAT), the Firm subscription excluding taxes: it is aimed at professionals. The applicable VAT is calculated at payment.
How analyses are counted
- An analysis is counted in this order: the Firm subscription quota when it is active, then the free analysis, then purchased reports.
- Re-submitting the same file from the same account within ten minutes is not counted.
- An analysis that fails (unreadable or protected document, engine failure) is not counted: the reserved report or free analysis is given back.
- Unused documents from a month of the Firm subscription are not carried over to the next month. Reports bought individually stay available on the account until used with no expiry dateto be confirmed.
5. Payment and seller of record (Stripe Managed Payments)
Payments are processed by Stripe using Stripe Managed Payments. Under this arrangement, Stripe (via Link) is the official seller (“merchant of record”) of the paid plan: it collects the payment, calculates, collects and remits the applicable VAT, issues receipts and invoices, and provides support for payments and refunds.
In practice, the mention “Sold through Link” accompanies your purchase, the label on your bank statement starts with LINK.COM*, and receipts, invoices and refund notifications are sent to you by Link. You can view your orders, update your payment method or cancel a subscription on the Link website, in addition to the My account area of Veritas-Doc.
The Publisher provides the Service (analyses, reports, accounts, API) and remains your contact for anything about how it works: [to be completed]. For a question about a payment, an invoice or a refund, you can also contact Link support.
We neither receive nor keep your bank card number: payment takes place on a page hosted by Stripe.
6. Firm subscription
The Firm subscription is monthly. It renews automatically every month, at the price shown on the Pricing page, until cancelled. It includes 400 documents per billing period; the quota renews each period.
Cancellation
You can cancel at any time, without giving a reason and without penalty, from My account (the “Manage my subscription” button, which opens the Stripe customer portal) or from the Link website. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period already paid: access stays open until then. The current period is not refunded pro rata, subject to your legal rights and to any refunds Stripe may grant.
Failed payment
If a payment fails, access to the subscription may be suspended and then withdrawn if the payment is not put right. You then keep access to the free analysis and to purchased reports, if any remain.
Price changes
Any change to the subscription price is notified to you at least 30 daysto be confirmed before it applies and only applies from the following period; you may cancel before then.
7. Right of withdrawal (consumers)
If you act as a consumer, you have in principle 14 days to withdraw from a distance contract (article L. 221-18 of the French Consumer Code), subject to exceptions.
Single report
The report is delivered immediately after the analysis. The right of withdrawal can be set aside for an analysis that has been fully performed (article L. 221-28, 1° and 13°, of the French Consumer Code) only if, when you placed the order, you expressly asked for the Service to be performed immediately and acknowledged that you lose your right of withdrawal once the analysis has been performed. Without that express agreement from you, the 14-day withdrawal period applies. In every case it continues to apply to purchased reports you have not used; refunding an unused report results in it being removed from your balance.
Firm subscription
You may withdraw within 14 days of subscribing. If you asked for access to start immediately and you use the Service during that period, you will pay an amount proportionate to the service provided until you communicate your decision (article L. 221-25 of the French Consumer Code).
How to exercise this right
Write to [to be completed] stating your decision clearly, or contact Link support. The refund is made to the payment method used. The right of withdrawal is reserved for consumers: it does not apply to purchases made for professional purposes.
8. Acceptable use
You only submit documents you have the right to examine. They often contain personal data, sometimes sensitive, including data of third parties: you are responsible for the lawfulness of sending them to the Service. It is forbidden to:
- get around the quotas, rate limits or security measures of the Service;
- share your account or access keys, or resell access to the Service;
- submit files meant to disrupt the Service, or automate mass submissions outside the API;
- use the Service to infringe a third party’s rights or in breach of the law;
- present the report as an expert opinion, or as proof that a person committed fraud.
In case of breach, the Publisher may suspend or close the account, without prejudice to any other remedy.
9. Use of the API
The public API is open to accounts with an active Firm subscription or an Enterprise plan. It is described in the Developer documentation.
- Access keys are personal: they are tied to your account and must not be shared or passed on. You are responsible for every call made with your keys.
- A key must never be embedded in a browser or mobile application: the API is designed for server-to-server calls.
- Calls use the same quota as the interface. A per-key rate limit applies; a call over the limit is refused with an error code and a waiting time.
- The number of active keys per account is limited. You can revoke a key at any time; revocation is immediate.
- The Publisher may revoke a key in case of abuse, a proven leak or a breach of the Terms.
- The API is versioned: a breaking change gives rise to a new version.
We only keep the fingerprint of your keys: a key is displayed once, when created. If you lose it, revoke it and create a new one.
10. Availability and changes to the Service
The Service is provided with no commitment of continuous availability. It may be interrupted for maintenance, an incident or a provider’s failure. The Publisher may change, suspend or stop features; where the change affects a paid plan in progress, it will inform you.
11. Liability
The report is an aid to checking. It is produced automatically from technical rules and may be incomplete, or point to signs unrelated to any intention to alter the document. The Publisher does not warrant the completeness or accuracy of the report, nor its fitness for a particular use. You remain solely responsible for how you use the report and for the decisions you take from it.
To the extent permitted by law, the Publisher’s liability is limited to direct and foreseeable damage. Towards a business customer, it is further capped at the amounts paid for the Service over the last twelveto be confirmed months. Nothing in the Terms excludes or limits a consumer’s statutory rights, or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, in particular in case of gross negligence or wilful misconduct.
12. Intellectual property and submitted documents
The Service, its analysis engine, its interface and its brand belong to the Publisher. The Terms only grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use them for their duration.
You keep all your rights in the documents you submit. You authorise the Publisher to process them only to produce the report you asked for. The content of your documents is not stored (see the Privacy policy). You may keep, print and attach the report to your files.
13. Personal data
Personal data is processed in accordance with the Privacy policy.
14. Duration, suspension and closing of the account
The Terms apply for as long as you use the Service. You may ask for your account to be deleted at any time by writing to [to be completed]; if a Firm subscription is active, cancel it first. The Publisher may suspend or close an account in case of a serious or repeated breach of the Terms, after informing the user where possible.
15. Complaints and mediation
For any complaint, write to [to be completed]. If you are a consumer and are not satisfied, you may refer the matter free of charge to the consumer mediator the Publisher falls under, after sending a written complaint: [to be completed], [to be completed].
16. Changes to the Terms
The version applicable to an order is the one in force on the date of that order. Any substantial change is notified to you by e-mail or in the Serviceto be confirmed before it applies; if it is unfavourable to you, you may cancel your subscription before it applies.
17. Governing law and jurisdiction
The Terms are governed by French law. In case of a dispute, and failing an amicable settlement, the French courts have jurisdiction for a business customer, those of the Publisher’s registered officeto be confirmed. Consumers keep the benefit of the mandatory jurisdiction rules that apply to them.
